Candice Carnes is a multimedia artist and emerging creative writer in Albuquerque, New Mexico. As an artist, she specializes in combining art and writing to create hybrid narrative forms. She enjoys making pieces that tell a story on a subconscious level. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Goddard College where she applied these concepts to her studies. She earned an MA in Science writing at Johns Hopkins University. And she is currently a degree candidate in an MLA program.
As a forth-generation New Mexican she strives to provide Old Town with a shop that has a different take on local culture.
She gives back to the community by providing advocacy to direct caregivers and people with illnesses or disabilities. She was a caregiver for nearly twenty years and worked primarily as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She has also suffered from several illnesses and has disabilities. These are all major influences in her work and life.
